We are hearing reports today that police have cordoned off an area of Riddings Road in Deighton.
Residents have been in touch to say gun shots were fired on the street near the junction with Deighton Road on Monday evening. Officers remain at the scene this morning.
It is understood armed officers were called to the scene.
The incident comes after a shooting in Rawthorpe on Saturday.

No shooting say police, but a car 'deliberately driving into another car'
Police have now said that no shooting occurred on Riddings Road, but that an incident has occurred.
It happened when a red Seat Ibiza was deliberately driven into a blue car. The driver of another black vehicle then got out and threatened to occupants of the Seat before fleeing the scene towards Chestnut Street.
A white car, which is believed to have been travelling with the black car, also left the scene with the black vehicle a few moments later, heading in the same direction. No-one is reported to have been injured in the incident and a number of enquiries are ongoing today.
Detective Inspector Mark Atkinson of Kirklees CID said:
“We are working to trace parties involved in the incident and are progressing significant lines of enquiry.
“I would very much like to speak anyone who saw what took place or who saw the red Seat Ibiza, white car or small black car in the area around Riddings Road, shortly before or after the incident.”

Road re-opens
The cordon at Riddings Road has now been lifted and the road is re-open.
We still are yet to hear from police as to what’s happened although many residents say they heard a gunshot last night.
Fingertip searches being carried out
Police are now carrying out a fingertip search on the street.
The incident is being dealt with by the Homicide and Major Enquiries Team.

Eyewitness saw shot fired from a car
An eyewitness has told the Examiner that she saw three cars with a shot fired from one of them.
She said:
There were three cars involved and a shot was fired from one of them. There was a ‘bang’ it sounded like it had hit something hard. One of the cars reversed into a parked car and then drove off. Police were here quite quickly. There were around five or six police cars.
Residents say it's a drive-by shooting
We’ve now heard from residents that the incident in Deighton last night is thought to be a drive-by shooting.
This follows on from a similar incident in Rawthorpe on Saturday evening where four people were shot at in a targeted attack. Although there is no connection the two incidents are connected.
Residents heard gunshots
People living on the street say they heard gunshot noises at around 9pm last night.
