Detectives have been given more time to question two suspects arrested on suspicion of murder.

Homicide and Major Enquiry Detectives are leading the investigation following the death of a 22-year-old Huddersfield man in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The victim, who has been named locally as Sean Annandale, died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary after police were called to a disturbance at a house in Elmfield Avenue, Golcar.

A 23-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday.

This morning police confirmed they have been granted more time to question them.

A police spokesman said: “ A warrant has been granted for further detention.”

Police could not confirm how long the detention had been granted for but the Examiner understands it could be up to 32 hours.

A third man arrested on suspicion of murder was released with no further action.
