A man has been saved after a terrifying night time fall into a beck.
The victim, believed to be in his 40s, plunged around five metres into the waterway to the side of the White Horse pub near to Scholes Road and Hepworth Road at Jackson Bridge.
They had to use specialised appliances to get down and pull him to safety.
“We had to lower a ladder down then used Huddersfield’s aerial appliance to get him out,” said Jimmy Johnson, Rastrick watch commander.
“He was conscious and ambulance staff took him to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
“I don’t know who alerted us but I guess it was a passer by who heard him shout.
“I wouldn’t like to guess how he got down there but it was a fairly big fall.
“He’s a very lucky man though to come out of it.”
