New hotels could be on the way for Huddersfield and Brighouse.

Hotel chain Travelodge is planning to open 13 new properties across Yorkshire.

The company said the decision represents an £80m investment and would create around 300 jobs.

It said Yorkshire was a “key growth area”, where it currently has 32 properties and employs 519 people.

New locations include Barnsley, Bradford, Brighouse, Bridlington, Halifax, Headingley, Huddersfield, Hull, Knaresborough, Wetherby, Whitby and at two sites in York.

The company made the announcement at the opening of its second hotel in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
