David Wagner says Huddersfield Town have a strong enough squad to cope with three suspensions when they host Rotherham United in the Championship on Tuesday.

Wagner’s side aim to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat at Reading which cost them the league leadership while maintaining a 100% home record in their fifth game at the John Smith’s Stadium.

But they must do it without forward Rajiv van La Parra and defenders Mark Hudson and Chris Lowe, who all serve one-match bans.

Van La Parra was sent off (for two bookable offences, a foul then dissent) in the 25th minute of a Madejski Stadium meeting settled by Roy Beerens’ 41st-minute goal.

Meanwhile skipper and centre-back Hudson (foul) and left-back Lowe (dissent) both picked up fifth cautions of the campaign.

There could be a Town debut for Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, Town’s August left-back signing from Charlton Athletic, against Alan Stubbs’ Millers.

“We have three bans to deal with, but I always said we had a strong squad and that all the players would be needed over the season,” said Wagner.

“Now we will think about the questions that the suspensions pose and try to come up with the right solutions.

“I have total trust in my players and expect then to be fresh enough, brave enough and confident enough to beat Rotherham.

“This game gives us a chance to turn our disappointment any maybe a few negative vibrations into positive vibrations.

“We missed three points at Reading, but there were plenty of good things in out display with 10 men, so let’s go for three points against Rotherham.”

Wagner praised the 1,348 Town fans in a 17,030 (check) attendance and added: “A big crowd against Rotherham could really help us.”

The South Yorkshire side are second-bottom after a 2-1 home defeat by Cardiff City.
