Confident Leroy Cudjoe believes the Huddersfield Giants are good enough to build on their opening win of the season against Hull KR and collect major silverware in 2016.

After losing their opening four Super League XXI fixtures, injury-hit Huddersfield finally got off the mark with their 38-6 home destruction of the Robins.

The John Smith’s Stadium clash marked the return of fit-again trio Eorl Crabtree, Joe Wardle and Kyle Wood, while experienced prop Craig Huby (broken hand) is closing in on his first game of the campaign.

And with on-loan Wakefield full-back Jordan Tansey making an immediate impact against Rovers and the Giants having cash in the bank (following the departure of Brett Ferres and retirement of Luke Robinson) to strengthen their squad should any quality players become available later in the season, England centre Cudjoe remains very confident about the future.

“The mood after the Hull KR win has obviously been really positive,” said Cudjoe.

“Even though we’d lost our opening four games, we still knew we were a good side and that as soon as the players started to return we’d pick up the wins.

“That’s what we did last weekend, and that’s what we expect to do again at home to Catalans Dragons this weekend.

“Despite our bad start, it’s still our aim as a team to win a trophy this season.

“Losing our first four games has made that task just a little bit harder, but if this injury-hit start means we’ll have a fully-fit squad available at the back end of the season – which is something all clubs want – then things are looking pretty positive. That’s definitely the way we’re looking at it as a group.”
