The Spiced Pear at Hepworth offers a quaint, cosy setting for Valentines Day, including an open fire. Serving afternoon tea in its 1940s themed tea room, as welll a secret dining and taster menus, the restaurant also offers brunches, cakes and cocktails, if you want to try something different this weekend. Open from 11am.

Butcher's Arms

Also in Hepworth, the Butcher's Arms was a particular favourite of our reporter Robert Sutcliffe. He said: "Ultra-romantic village designed for horses not cars, and the pub's a cracker too. Especially in winter with snow falling outside, real fires, ales and French a la carte menu. What more could a gal want?" Indeed.

Mozzarella's Pizzeria and Wine Bar

This cosy Marsden restaurant was summed up by our reviewer in just 10 words: "Buzzing, atmosphere; excellent food; cheery service – be sure to visit." With pizzas, pasta, risotto and other Italian treats, Mozarella's is open 3pm-10.30pm on Saturday and 3pm-9pm on Sunday.

Serving traditional Italian fayre including pizza, pasta, antipasto and seafood, Ciao Bella is good for couples looking for a Valentine's Day treat that won't break the bank, with main course dishes ranging from £7.50 to £18.95.

Pink Fusion

Pink Fusion Lounge in New Mill, Holmfirth offers a range of cuisines for a multi-cultural Valentine's outing. Our reviewer said: "The choice of dishes is extensive. Alongside the tried and tested Indian favourites is a large range of specialities, the origins of which, according to the enormous menu, stretch from Arabia and Persia to Morocco and Bangladesh. There should be something here to tempt even the fussiest of south Asia food fans."


Food at Eric's Restaurant, Lindley.

Eric's, in Lindley, is offering a special Valentine's afternoon tea event on Saturday February 13, as well as a four course menu with welcome champagne on the Saturday and Sunday. The afternoon tea, £15,95 per person, will be served 12pm-3pm, with the option to add a bottle of champagne to your booking. The on Saturday from 5pm and Sunday from 6pm, couples can treat themselves to a four-course dinner with bubbly on arrival for £50 per person.
