Imbolc Fire Festival

The Imbolc Fire Festival returns to Marsden on Saturday February 6, with a huge procession from the Old Goods Yard and a dazzling fire shoe at Tunnel End.

Holmfirth Festival of Folk

Holmfirth Festival of Folk will be held May 6-8, with live music, dancing and street entertainment, workshops and children's events and special events at Holmfirth's pubs.

Golcar Lily Day

This year's Golcar Lily Day will take place on Saturday May 14, 10am-4pm. The annual celebration of life in Golcar features live music, Morris dancing, stilt walkers, stalls, a barbecue and a beer tent. This year the event will celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Honley Show

Honley Agricultural Show, taking place on June 11, attracts around 15,000 people each year. One of the most prestigious rural shows in the country, it has sections including horses, handicraft, sheep, cattle, dogs and even rabbits, as well as live music, entertainment and stalls.

Harden Moss Sheepdog Trials

Nothing says Yorkshire like a weekend of sheep dog trials in the picturesque Holme Valley. This year's Harden Moss Sheepdog Trials will be held June 17-19, with more than 140 dogs working dogs taking part in a host of different categories. Click above to watch a video from last year's trials.

Yorkshire Day

Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival

Cuisines from around the world, cocktail bars, live cookery demonstrations, live music and more see thousands pack into St George's Square each year for Huddersfield Food and Drink festival. The popular event is held in the town centre each August — dates to be confirmed.

Emley Show

Huddersfield folk get to enjoy not one but two agricultural shows each year, with Emley Show taking place in August. This year's show will be held on Saturday August 6 on Emley Moor, beneath its famous mast. Its classes include poultry, cattle, horses, hamsters, woodcarving, dry-stone walling and craft and cookery.

Marsden Jazz Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary this year - dates for 2016's weekend of swing have yet to be confirmed, but jazz fans, musicians and internationally acclaimed artists are set to descend on Marsden in October.
