Two men have appeared in court accused of knocking down and killing a pedestrian in Dalton.
They are charged with causing the death of Alistair Duncan by dangerous driving.
The alleged offence happened at Wakefield Road on May 15. The 58-year-old died of his injuries after being hit near to The Stag pub.
Prosecutor Ben Crosland said that Mr Duncan was killed as a result of the conduct of the drivers of two BMWs travelling along Wakefield Road.
Basak, 23, faces a second charge of fraud by false representation between May 15 and 17.
He is accused of failing to disclose that his vehicle had been destroyed by fire to an insurance company.
Magistrates sent the case to Leeds Crown Court. The men will appear on January 6.
