More women than men in Huddersfield passed their first driving test perfectly - defying the national trend.

A Freedom of Information request has revealed that 11 women out of 1,216 (0.9 per cent) passed first time with no faults in 2012/13, compared with eight men (0.7 percent).

The results show Huddersfield has bucked the British trend - overall men are more likely to pass their driving test with no faults than women.

In 2012/13, 1.3 per cent of all men who took their first driving test passed with no faults, compared to 1 per cent of women.

This equates to 7,381 people managing a perfect pass - 4,172 men and 3,209 women, Overall, 651,037 people took a test in 2012/13.

The best place in Britain for perfect passes was revealed to be Arbroath, Scotland - 6.6 per cent of all people who took their first test passed first time with no errors.

In England, Melton Mowbray performed best, with 4.6 per cent of all learners managing a perfect pass.
