Police appeal after Holmfirth robbery

Detectives in Kirklees are appealing for information following a robbery in Holmfirth yesterday evening (25/11).3 Diamond Cluster Ring

The incident occurred around 6pm, when a man knocked on the door of a house in the Wooldale area. The occupant, an 86-year-old woman slightly opened the door and was threatened with a knife by an unknown male suspect. The suspect forced the door open, and in-doing so, knocked the victim to the floor.

The victim was uninjured.

The suspect made off with four distinctive gold rings and an amount of cash.

2 Diamond baguette rings

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5”8” tall, aged around 18 years, or skinny build with a pale face. He was dressed all in black and spoke with a local accent.

The missing jewellery is described as; a 22ct gold band with leaves engraved all-around the ring, a diamond baguette cluster ring with a gold band, a baguette diamond with a gold band and a 3 diamond cluster on a slim white gold band.

Detective Constable Paul Morrison of Kirklees CID said; “Whilst the victim was not injured, this has clearly been a very frightening experience and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area yesterday evening and may have seen the suspect, or who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward.

The rings stolen are of great sentimental value to the victim, and I would also ask for anyone who has been invited to buy the jewellery, or who has seen it for sale to speak to the police. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Paul Morrison at Kirklees CID via 101, alternatively you can speak to the anonymous independent crime fighting charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or report anonymously online https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/give-information-online/

Aggravated burglary: Police appeal

Detectives in Kirklees are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in Ravensthorpe yesterday evening (Wednesday, 25 November).

The offence happened at a property in Ravens Crescent between 6.15pm and 6.27pm. Two adults and a number of children were in the address at the time but no violence was used against them and, after a search of the property, the offenders appear to have left empty-handed.

It is believed that there were four to five men involved, with balaclavas covering their faces.

Detective Inspector Ian Thornes

Detective Inspector Ian Thornes (pictured), of Kirklees CID, said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish whether there is any link between this latest burglary and other similar offences in Batley and Dewsbury over recent days.

“From initial enquiries it would appear that at least one of the men was armed with a weapon and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity who may have seen these men who can provide any further information.

“The suspects are also believed to have left the scene in a waiting grey Audi estate car and we would be interested in speaking to anyone who believes they have seen this vehicle in the area.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Kirklees District CID via 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

This is the current most read story on the website:

A landmark building has been saved from demolition but its days as a wedding venue could be numbered.

Historic Dalton Grange in Bradley Mills Road, Rawthorpe, was listed for its architectural importance in July after owner, chemical giant Syngenta, wanted to flatten it.

Syngenta submitted a planning application to Kirklees Council and wanted to demolishthe Gothic-style building and turn the site into allotments or a car park for the nearby John Smith’s Stadium.

Bosses at Syngenta were locked in a legal battle with Mike and Kim Dean, who run a weddings and hospitality business from the former Victorian country house

HTAFC: Jamie Paterson is pulling out all the stops in training.

Huddersfield Town’s on-loan Nottingham Forest forward knows there is a place available to face Middlesbrough at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday because of Harry Bunn’s suspension and Mustapha Carayol being unavailable against his parent club.

The 23-year-old is fit again after a hamstring problem kept him out of the last home game against Leeds United.

He trained ahead of last Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

But head coach David Wagner said he hadn’t completed enough sessions to be considered. Read more:
