Councillors will today rule on 12 planning applications across our area that could impact on thousands of people.

And Kirklees councillors will also be asked to comment on a proposed development in Elland - due to its impact on Ainley Top.

Among the applications for the Huddersfield Planning Sub-Committee is a return of an application they deferred in February.

Jones Homes want consent for 29 homes on land off Holmfirth Road in New Mill, but it was said to be one of up to three phases and councillors were unhappy at not knowing the full intention.

Now Jones Homes has submitted phase two, of around 24 houses, which members will be asked to determine - 38 people objected to phase one and 28 to phase two.

Kirklees planning officers have recommended both for approval, subject to delegation to officers to set conditions and contributions.

Development at Lindley Moor Road is also on the agenda, with outline consent sought for employment use on a small parcel on land bounded by Crosland Road and Weatherhill Road.

The site is part of a wider section already given consent for a data centre, but consent is sought for B1 use, which in planning terms is offices and light industry, B2 use which is general industry and B8 use which is storage or distribution.

Nine objections have been submitted, however Kirklees planning officers signal approval for the bid.

A new bid for a residential development for open land off St Mary’s Avenue, Netherthong, has been made, although a bid for 34 houses has been removed with no indication of house numbers.

The developer wants to establish agreement in principle for housing on the land, which 54 people opposed but approval is advised.

GSK Developments want consent for 27 houses on land off Colders Lane, Meltham, again to establish principle agreement.

A bid to build on the land in 1999 was dismissed at appeal for highway reasons.

The application is the most-opposed of those being considered today, with 60 submitting a formal objection and 153 signing a petition. It’s advised the matter is referred to the Planning and Highways Committee to secure contributions and conditions.

The Pink Link Ltd also want approval for 27 houses at their Meltham based as they look to relocate. Meltham Town Council and nine residents object, but it’s recommended for approval.

Roy Brook Builders want outline consent for housing on land at Bank End Lane in Almondbury.

Keyland Developments Ltd want outline consent for industrial development adjacent to Neiley Garage, New Mill Road, Honley, Holmfirth; Kingsman Homes want consent for five houses at 19-21 Concord Street, Honley, which 10 people and Holme Valley Parish Council has opposed. Planning officer advice is for approval.

They will also consider a house extension at 1 Rose Mount, Birkby; plans for two flats adjacent to 1 Cleveland Road, Edgerton; a detached house at 124 Rowley Lane, Fenay Bridge.
