There are no points at stake, but both Huddersfield Town and Leyton Orient are targeting victory when they meet in Spain on Saturday.

It’s a second warm-up match for Chris Powell’s Championship side, who won 3-1 at National League newcomers Guiseley on Saturday.

The Town boss will be without the services of striker James Vaughan (leg) and Philip Billing (hamstring), with neither travelling to Town's training base, while Powell will also not risk Ishmael Miller and Jonathan Hogg against the O's and Jack Senior is also struggling with an infected blister.

Meanwhile Orient, skippered by former Town centre-back Nathan Clarke, aim to bounce back from a 2-1 loss at Braintree Town, who will be among Guiseley’s opponents this season.

Saturday’s game (09:30) takes place at Town’s La Cala training base near Marbella.

League II Orient are staying at the Alhaurin resort in Malaga, further inland.

Striker Paul McCallum, who scored the Londoners’ goal at Braintree, said: “We are working hard, but we are enjoying our time out here.

“The Huddersfield game will be a test and we will be able to gauge where we are and what shape we are in ahead of the new season.

“It’s just us and the management team while we are away and we are already bonding well.

“We have all got on really well in the first few weeks I have been at the club and this trip will help us even more.”

Even though McCallum’s goal against Braintree on Friday was in vain as Orient lost out, the new signing from West Ham United believed there were plenty of positive signs for Ian Hendon’s side.

“It was disappointing not to win but I thought the boys performed well,” said the 21-year-old.

“It’s all about getting used to playing with your new teammates and it was good to get the first game under our belts.”

Town boss Chris Powell said of the Guiseley game: “We won, which is always good, and produced some decent play.

“The game also showed up some areas we need to work on, and we’re doing that.

“The Spanish trip is all about adding more building blocks to those we have already laid.”
