Rajiv van La Parra reckons Huddersfield Town will soon be stepping smartly up the Premier League ladder.

The 27-year-old Dutchman played his part in an encouraging team display against Crystal Palace and was bitterly disappointed Town got floored by a spectacular strike from Wilfried Zaha.

Van La Parra was substituted 13 minutes from time in the 1-0 setback, which dropped Town back into the bottom three with five matches played.

He is confident, however, that if Town continue to attack and create in the same positive way, the goals and points will soon come.

The former Wolves player hopes that will be this Saturday against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Town's Rajiv van La Parra goes past Crystal Palace's Cheikhou Kouyate.

“It was really frustrating against Palace because we tried so hard to score a goal and to win,” said Van La Parra.

“At the moment, we have some difficulty scoring goals and it’s something we are working hard on in training to put right.

“Hopefully in the next game we can score some goals and get the confidence back.”

Van La Parra is realistic, however, about the task facing Town.

“We played a good game (against Palace) but playing good is not enough,” he explained.

“It’s about scoring goals, and the fact we didn’t is what killed us.

“At least we gave a positive performance, though, and that is something we can build on.

“After that, we have to add goals to the way we play – then we will get more points.

“If you look at our performance, it was good from the team, but the game is about scoring goals and that’s what we need to add to the way we play.

“We are looking to build.”

The man who came through at Heerenveen was disappointed to be substituted against Palace, but he felt the Town fans were tremendous in backing the team.

“We are happy with the support, but we do need to win at home,” he said.

“Even when we lose games they are always behind us, but we need to get back to our winning celebration.

“We will make sure soon that we score and we win and they can cheer for us again.”
